After dinner, while the kids played, we tried a game I found online. Basically, I asked each couple to write down a line from 5 different songs. It took some time, but the creativity was worth it in the end. I read "the code" for the list and each couple shared their lines. For example: the first song on your list is "your feeling after your 1st kiss" - and Emily read her line, "Jack Frost nipping at your nose" - and Hector busted out "baby's got back!" for his line. Damon came up with, "a skeleton's choking on a piece of bread" ..... ??? interpret as you may.... So, you see, nobody knew what their "lines" would mean. Okay, so the second song your your list means "the memory of your honeymoon" - Travis and Jenni had-"I was introduced and we both started groovin," from Hector and Liz: "will it ever stop? Yo, I don't know - turn off the lights, and I'll glow." Nick had- "aint goin down till the sun comes up. :)
For the 3rd song - "a year after marriage" Nick had: "Don't go chasin' waterfalls, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that your used to." Ha ha!
The 4th song meant "now when you're together," and Ryan and Emily had, "I live for little moments like that." How sweet. Damon and Laura, on the other hand, had "I wanted to run up on you and do a rambo"... a little more aggressive. Oh boy. Then Jenni performed a number from the Spice Girls - "If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends," and Travis piped in "that's why you're all here!" Wow, ummm... Hector shocked us all by finding his falsetto and singing, "Please don't go girl, you're my best friend, you're my love within...." See pictures below - no, Travis and Jenni aren't laughing at Hector's singing voice.
And lastly, for the 5th song, which represents our 50th anniversary, Nick's was pretty funny - "Even when I'm ugly, he still better love me." But everyone had a different twist. "Long neck bottle, let go of my hand." "She had a BBQ stain on her white t-shirt, she was killin' me in that mini-skirt" (Jenni pointed out that age was the reason for the stain... what about the mini-skirt?). "Share my innermost thoughts" - after 50 years you should :) and then "We've got the whole wide world in our yard to explore!"
After the game, the kids (but really the adults) made graham cracker houses with frosting and candy:) Eli put a rainbow over his house, so Laura ran with the "gay pride" theme and made flags too. Always a fun group of friends, hope we can do it again soon.
